Rural Housing Enabling Service
Thanks to funding from DEFRA, Devon Communities Together is now able to offer a free and independent service to parishes, community groups, housing associations and developers, helping to deliver affordable housing schemes to meet local needs.
This service forms part of a network of Rural Housing Enablers (RHEs) working across the country as part of a national programme to increase the provision of affordable housing in rural communities.
We can:
- Help parish councils and community groups to understand the processes and options for achieving rural affordable housing for local people within their parish.
- Assist in the identification and appraisal of potential sites and liaise closely with landowners and planning authorities over constraints and opportunities.
- Liaise closely with local housing associations and developers to facilitate community involvement in the design and delivery of housing schemes.
- ·Contribute to relevant strategies at national, regional and local level to increase the delivery of affordable rural housing throughout Devon.
